Background
I was born in Cleveland, Ohio. U.S.A. but have been resident in the U.K. since 1977. I now live and work in London.
I am a self-taught painter with no formal art qualifications.
The crucial impetus for my art came from the discipline of working as a life model for eleven years. I began to pose for my own life-sized drawings and became fascinated by the limitations and possibilities that arise from looking whilst simultaneously being looked at. In 2003 I turned to oil painting in order to develop new approaches to colour and composition, and to extend my subject matter. Since 2007 I have focused almost exclusively on portraiture.
